This is our final magazine advert for our music video. I decided to use the
same image as the one we used in our front cover for our Digipak because our
audiences will be able to remember each image and associate each product to our
final music video. It is a photo of our main actor, Amber, standing in front of
Nelson's
Column in Trafalgar Square. By taking an image that has the setting of
such a well-known landmark, we are able to widen our target audience and appeal
to other social groups. Amber is performing an excitable pose, with her arms
raised and her mouth in a broad smile, which seems inviting to an audience as
she does not look unapproachable and sombre. This is a friendly vibe that we
are trying to create for our audience response. After deciding on the image, I added
the necessary information that would enable us to make our product appear more
professional. I added the title of the song and its artist, which I positioned
down each side of the image in order for them to stand out more against the
white background. I then added a simple “out now!” wording with the required exclamation
point to appeal eager and tempting. This enables our audience to know when our
product is available. I then added a simple quote said to be from the
magazine “Heat”, stating “A girl’s anthem of today”. By adding this quote, we
can directly appeal to our target audience of teenage girls as they are aware
that the song was made and produced for them personally. This personal touch is
something we have made present throughout our advertising products as we want
to appeal to our audience by appearing relatable and friendly. Finally, I included the necessary copyright information, by writing our production company name and social network links where audiences could find out more about our product. I then added a simple "ITunes" logo which enables us to keep up to date with the growing industry and helps the audience understand where to purchase our product and view our music video.

Magazine Advert Idea One
Here is an idea of a Magazine Advert that I created. I did this to explore different ways of advertising our new music video 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun'. I used bold and bright colours to make this poster stand out so that it would caught the attention of our target audience. As you can see I didn't overload the poster with too many colours as I didn't want the colours to clash. Hopefully this would draw the audience and they will want to not only watch but buy the song too as a CD or from iTunes.

Final Shooting Schedule
As our original video was deleted, we have had to film our music video again. Although this is frustrating, we now have a second chance to reach the expectations we have made in this video. We plan to film throughout January yet also edit during this time. If everything goes according to the plan, we will have our completed video by February and finish our blog by February half term.

Final Song Choice
Initially, we decided to use Madonna's "Material Girl" track to accompany our music video. However, as we faced a crisis during the post production of our video, we decided to change everything completely. This included using a new camera and a different editing software. We also decided to change the song entirely. In hindsight, the shots we captured for our first video did not relate to the song lyrics themselves. Therefore, we instead elected to choose Cyndi Lauper's early 80s hit "Girls Just Want To Have Fun". Now, we are able to stick to the original storyboard yet make it more challenging, with more actors and more ambitious locations.

Changes
Dramatic Changes
Originally, we were filming a
music video for the song “Material Girl” by Madonna. However, when we began to
edit the video together, our nearly completed video was deleted of the editing
programme, along with the video clips. After consulting with the technical team
at school, we discovered that our video could not be retrieved. Although we
were initially very disappointed by this outcome, we have been given an
extended deadline to complete our video.
We have decided to take this
opportunity to change major aspects of our video. After looking at the first
video, we decided that the lyrics did not relate to the images on screen and
instead we have decided to change our song choice to “Girls Just Want To Have
Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. By doing this, we will be able to relate to the song
lyrics more and we have already decided on a new storyline. We have also
decided to change the editing programme to Final Cut Pro on Apple Mac, as
supposed to the Pinnacle editing software at our school. This will let us explore
different editing techniques and use more effects to get our video to the best
standard possible.
Another change we have made is
the camera. We first used a school camera to film our video, but we now have the
Lumix G10. It has 12.1 megapixels, which enables our video to have a much
higher quality than it did before. It also has different effects that we hope
to use in our new video.
Although having to re-do our
filming again is frustrating, we understand that we have been given another
chance to make our video the best it could possibly be. I believe that, by
making these changes, we will be able to produce a video of high quality, with more
advanced and correct editing techniques involved. We will also complete more posts that need to be changed to go with the new song choice but, both songs are in the same genre, so we will not need to adapt our earlier posts. We will keep our completed posts on our blog to show our progress throughout this process.

Initial Locations
Here are the locations for our "House" scenes. We firstly have our main character waking up in a feminine bedroom before getting changed and meeting her friend. We also filmed a few shots of Amber in a wardrobe as we debated about the connotations of a "Material Girl" and inevitably decided that she should be surronded by clothes. Futhermore, we filmed a few point of view and high angle shots in order to achieve extra footage.
We not only decided to shoot in one place of the house as we know we have to prove that we have developed since our AS videos. Therefore, this enables us to have a wider variety or choices when it comes to editing our video.
We filmed part of our video on a bridge and a stretch of forest. We decided from the beginning that we would want a location that opposes the traditional codes and conventions of a music video. Although we have now changed these locations to adapt to our new and final video, we will still use the "House" location in the finsihed project.

Initial Make-Up
This is the make up that we used.
This is the before shot.
This is the after shot.
This is the first scene we shot, this is for the white background scene that appears through the music video throughout. The first picture is the makeup we chose to use on me for this scene, we chose this makeup because where there is a white background we wanted her to stand out so thought to have big red lips. We wanted her to look girlie so that is why we decided to have the fake eyelashes also. We noticed when looking at 80's video that the females would wear their hair to the side so thought to do this.We decided to not have any clothes on show because in the other scenes we are going to be having a mixture of bright clothing and for this scene we wanted it to be abit more simple just about her and the singing. Diary of a Day's of Shooting (Scene Two)
On Novemer 12th, Me, Amber and Ellie filmed part of our music video. This time we filmed at my house. My room was used for the first scene where the main character was filmed waking up in bed and getting ready to go out and meet her friend (me). In this shooting day we met loads of targets to be done in a few hours and we got loads of footage.
In my house we used a lot of places to film. As you can see from the pictures that was taken, there were three significant locations in my house. The photo of the garden shows Ambers' view from the door. This was what she was looking out on in an over shoulder shot. The photo of my bed is where Amber was pictured waking up and going back to sleep after the long day. The final picture shows Amber in the wardrobe. I believe this is a very good place to shoot as it really fits in with the theme of "Material Girl" because she should be surrounded by gadgets and clothing items.
This day we also filmed on a bridge near my house. It crosses above a motorway and added to our list of locations. This is where Amber and her friend (me) meet up and start our day out.

Diary of a Day's Shooting (Scene One)
On the 23rd October we completed our first day of filming. We decided to film the "white background" shot, which is the main shot that requires the most precise lip syncing.
We chose a white background because we wanted the attention to be entirely on our main character. When it comes to editing this shot, we will make the backgorund brighter, in order to keep the attention focussed on Amber and also make the quality of the video better.
This is a shot of Amber miming the song. We decided to take two long shots, where we just played the song the whole way through whilst Amber mimed all the lyrics, and three other shots of just the chorus and one main verse. By having a wide range of shots, we have enough footage to complie our video and extra in case we need.
This shot of me filming the scene also shows Amber's costume. She wore a vest top with no sleeves yet we only filmed the top half of her body, so only her shoulders and face are visible. We decided on this to add voyerism to the video, as this was one of the main aspects of the codes and conventions of a pop video. In terms of shooting, we had Amber look straight at the camera to empasise the voyerism aspect of the scene.

80's Mood Board
By doing this mood board we have a better idea as to what costumes to use in our video. There seems to be bold colours with bright clothing specific for 80's e.g. neon weg warmers. We will keep this in mind and also there is a 'fun' feel to the images, for instance, there is a photo if roller blades.
Although this mood board was originally for our first chosen song, we still find it useful as we are able to look at the main purpose of the mood board, which was to see what costume choices we will have. And as the two songs are from the same decade, we can.

Initial Intended Audience
Here is the first "Intended Audience" post we created. As we now have a change of song, we changed this post to relate to our new song. Although they are quite similar, we are able to show our progression through the course as we have developed our ability to choose the most important target audience.

Initial Location Ideas
We decided to chose fun and unique locations for our video. We understand that we must have more locations than in our previous thriller videos. Therefore, we finally decided on a bedroom, a bridge, a high street, changing rooms of a clothing shop, an arcade and a bowling alley. These locations are in keeping with the codes and conventions of a pop video, as they are exciting and enjoyable, emotions which we want our audience to feel when watching our video.
Initial Make Up Ideas
This is a short and brief video of our make up ideas. Colour is a main theme in the 80's fashion so we will need to make sure we use bright and bold colours on our actors in order to achieve the full effect.
Prelim / First Practise
This was initially a vine video of Amber practising the chorus of our first chosen song, "Material Girl". By practising early on in the process, we have a better chance of making the editing process of our video much smoother. If our main character knows the lyrics to the song and what lip syncing movements are needed, we will be able to finish the filming process earlier and spend time in more depth throughout editing.
Although we have now changed our song, this prelim is still relevant as we can look back upon how we have developed the "Star Image" quality in our video by highlighting the main actor to make sure that she has precisely mimed the correct lyric of the song.

Madonna Material Girl Lyrics
The song below shows the lyrics that Amber has to learn in order to film our music video. These lyrics will be mimed by Amber when she is in front of the white background and the camera is just on her face and shoulders.

First Music Video Storyboard
This is a photo of our first Music Video storyboard, which we created for our initial chosen song "Material Girl". It follows the story of a teenage girl meeting her friends to partake in numerous activities, including shopping in a busy high street and bowling in an arcade, to represent materialistic qualities and fun. Although we have now changed our ideas, we can look back at this post to clearly see our development. We have now created an up to date post that conveys more creative and developed ideas.
